We've been prototyping and testing some ultra lightweight minimalist hiking backpack ideas. These prototype backpacks are made from X-Pac™, and have an approximate volume of 36L. We included storm proofing features like YKK® Aquaguard® zippers and roll top closure to keep the elements out.

While these hiking backpacks are a work in progress, some of the features & specs we have been testing include:

• Roll top closure
• Large outer zipper pocket
• Dual water bottle pockets
• Waist and sternum straps
• Top and side compression straps

The prototypes weigh in at 22.2 oz / 1.38 lbs / 630 grams -- we are pretty happy with this as a starting point, but we also have not reached a final decision on the material weight.  

 A few of our ambassadors and team members have been testing the packs and love how light they are.
